How might Nelson feed itself beyond Peak Oil?
At Transition Nelson’s first public meeting, 38% of attendees expressed an interest in food. In response to this Transition Nelson would like to invite you to the first meeting of its Food group on Tuesday the 8th July.
The purpose of the evening is to bring people together to explore how our community can:
1. relocalise food production, building better food security and resilience;
2. produce food with less reliance on fossil fuels. i.e. transition from high energy to low energy production;
3. produce food more sustainably;
The evening will be run using "Open Space Technology". Open Space is a simple way Transition Towns have found to run productive and inspiring meetings. Find out more on the night!
The aim of the evening is to;
1. network;
2. identify existing food related projects that can be built on;
3. identify new food projects and establish action groups to start working on these projects. Identify a key contact person for each project. These contact people will make up a food steering group;
Notes about each group discussion will be made available on our website, so you can find out what each group has discussed and join more than one group if you wish.
